Village of Mesi.

 

The community of Mesi is a small picturesque and traditional village located at the North-eastern part of the island of Naxos. Most of the approximately 100 inhabitants are emery miners. The village produces high quality wine and a variety of very tasty cheese types.

A monument of great importance is the Byzantine church of Agia Kyriaki, dated back to the 16th century. In the region of Mesi there is a castle and a cave.

 

ROUTE 1 From Naxos Town and the beach of Saint George to the Southwest beaches of the island, Agios Prokopis, Agia Anna, Plaka, Orkos, Mikri Vigla, Kastraki, Alyko, Pyrgaki and Ayiassos and the villages of Galanado, Agios Arsenios and Tripodes.
ROUTE 2 To the villages of Potamia, Chalki, Moni, Keramoti, Stavros, Koronos, Scado, Koronida, Messi, Apollonas.
ROUTE 3 To the villages of Galanado, Kato Sagri, Chalki, Filoti and Apiranthos and the beaches of Moutsouna, Psili Ammos and Panormos.
ROUTE 4 To Melanes, Galini, Engares, Ammitis Bay, the beach of Abrami, Agia and Apollonas.
