Filoti, on the lower slops of mount Zas, has once more become a busy village in recent years. In the past its inhabitants, like so many other Naxians, followed the trail of emigration, but many have now returned to settle permanently in their birth-place, restoring the old houses and building new ones.

The village is the largest in the island of Naxos and it is amphitheatrically built. Nowdays, visitors can enjoy the lovely cafés with the magnificent view or the picturesque tavernas with excellent cuisine and good quality local products.
