This lovely port has a large number of tavernas, café, bars, bar restaurants, grill houses, confectionaries and other shops, most of which have a great view. No vehicles are allowed on the promenade during the evening and people are safe to walk by the port.

With the castle being right above it and the Portara temple at its entrance, the port's unique beauty is well known to all travellers around the world.

At the end of the pier there is a taxi terminal and the local bus terminal. Taxis can be found almost 24 hours a day, especially during late spring, summer and early autumn. Local busses connect the capital with almost every village and beach of the island.

There are very few hotels located right at the port of Naxos; most hotels in the area are located in the castle, around the castle, in Grotta and in the greater area of the beach of Saint George. However, most such hotels are within a very short walking distance, varying from a few metres to approximately 800m.
